1970s High Relief Saint Christopher Medal
with Ocean Liner in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A very cool, mid-20th-century, Saint Christopher medal, modeled in 14k yellow gold, that features a richly-textured, high-relief carving of the beloved saint. In this miniature scene, Saint Christopher is depicted standing amid waves— behind him, in the distance, an ocean liner approaches. The ever-present rescued child sits atop Christopher's left shoulder, looking especially happy. This vintage medal bears the phrase “St. Christopher protect me,” on the reverse. It hangs from an extra-large jump ring. This medal is handmade, and it is unusually large and weighty (among catholic medals). The ocean liner is a rare addition to a St. Christopher's scene. We love this talisman's reassuring weight, its texture and the depth of its carving! Marked 14k for purity.
