Victorian Era Paste Buttercup Drop Earrings in 14k Gold
Poor Mouchette
* * SOLD * *
A pair of late-Victorian drop earrings, modeled in 14k yellow gold, whose buttercup mounts hold a plump suite of sparkling paste stones. These vibrant old imposters look very much like real diamonds, thanks to their hand-cut nature. The buttercup settings are designed with dramatic, rounded, cutaway sections, and six claw-like prong that hold the paste gems aloft. These earrings are short drops— each is composed of a larger setting that swings below a perfectly-matched smaller setting. These are classic, easy wearing, and visually comparable to a 1.5 CTW pair of diamond earrings. The construction throughout is beautiful— even the threaded posts and ear-nuts are precisely made. Marked 14k for purity, and with a lightly-inscribed design number.
