Rare Mid 20th Century Ticker Tape Under Dome Charm with Enamel in 14k Gold
Poor Mouchette
* * SOLD * *
A rare mid twentieth century charm, modeled in 14k yellow gold, after the Edison ticker tape machine. This sweet, miniature stock ticker is decorated with enamel (in red, white and black), and enclosed inside a clear, bell-shaped cloche. Ticker tape machines were the earliest dedicated financial communications system— they transmitted stock price information over telephone lines, and printed that data (tick tick tick) on unspooling paper tape. These machines were used on Wall Street up until the 1970s; today they are replaced by scrolling digital readouts, but the concept remains the same! This charm is equipped with a gold split ring, so that it can be worn on a bracelet or chain. The enamel is in excellent condition, as is the cloche. This is a charm you're unlikely to see again. It's an ideal little jewel for the speculators among us, be they bearish or bullish! Marked 14k, and with a maker's monogram.
