Victorian Articulated Cannon Wax Seal Fob

A highly-unusual, early-Victorian watch fob, modeled in 18k yellow gold and topped with a complex, mechanical cannon ornament. The domed backside of the fob, upon which the cannon carriage rests, is ornately hand-engraved with the swirling floral forms we associate with the Georgian era. The barrel of the cannon tips back and forth on a hinge, and the base of the seal is set with a lovely slab of polished bloodstone. The bloodstone has a beautiful deep green field color and lovely splattered figuring. The seal is blank. This is a wonderful object and a genuine rarity— it would be striking worn on a long chain, alone or paired with other meaningful pieces.
