Quartz in Quartz Interruption Ring
Modernist in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A big, modernist ring with a mystical vibe, modeled in 14k yellow gold, and featuring a rare, axe-head-shaped, quartz-in-quartz cabochon. The "mother" quartz, here, is fine and optically clear— it holds within it a beautifully formed, iridescent, quartz crystal point that interrupted the clear, window-like body of its host. This inspiring specimen is set north to south, and is seated in a full bezel— it perches atop a shapely, flat pier that connects the ring's head to its wide, flat band. This ring is powerful and unique, with a challenging rise that (like many mid 20th century modernist designs) references traditional tribal jewelry. The gold setting is beautifully brushed, which gives the ring a high gold color. The interior is finished with a high polish.
This ring was designed by Poor Mouchette and handcrafted in Portland, OR, by collaborating, independent craftspeople— the quartz in quartz cabochon was sourced locally, on the secondary market.
