Nude & Rose Figural Pearl & Diamond Ring
Mid 20th Century in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A sculptural mid 20th century ring, modeled in 14k yellow gold, whose central gem is a lustrous, natural sea pearl. This semi-baroque white pearl has a beautiful, iridescent nacre that displays pink and blue overtones. It is set between a pair of figural elements— a languid female form, and a diamond-set rosebud— that encircle the pearl, and hold it in place. We love the expressive quality of the carving, here, and the contrast between the subtly-textured and polished surfaces. Especially wonderful is the woman's long leg, trailing along the ring shank, her bent head and the asymmetry of the composition. Also striking are the flower's leaves, reaching out, just like the woman's arms! This is marked 14k for purity, and with the maker's monogram.
