Long Victorian Banded Agate Specimen Ring
in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
An unusual Victorian era ring, modeled in 14k rosy-yellow gold, whose gem is an extra long, rectangular, polished agate slab with black, brown, and white banding. This linear figuring sweeps across the agate— it is lightest, and most translucent at the top, becoming richer, darker, and more saturated toward the bottom of the stone. A pocket a druzy crystals live in the gem's bottom lefthand corner, where the colored bands bend around it. This striking agate is mounted in a crown-like setting, where it is held in place by many (24!) tapering, claw-like prongs. The ring's shoulder are collared. Its half-round shank tapers toward the base. We love this specimen for its rich variation and in color, transparency, and movement!
