An Art Nouveau era pendant perfume flask, modeled in 18k yellow gold, whose long, cylindrical form is decorated all over with a mistletoe motif, in beautiful, dimensional repoussé. Graphic mistletoe berries, stems, and leaves cover the flask entirely. Placed in a naturalistic manner, they overlap, here and there, rendered as if captured in movement. This weighty flask has a hinged lid that flips back to reveal a corked opening. This will serve admirably, should you wish to use it for its intended purpose— an old scent still lingers inside (a lovely chypre)! A bail is attached to this flask, near the hinge, so that it can be worn as a pendant. We think this rare old darling looks best hanging from a long chain. It is marked with the French eagle's head standard (twice!), for 18k gold.
Traditionally, mistletoe symbolized fertility and vitality. The ancient Greeks called it an aphrodisiac. Celtic druids believed Mistletoe was an antidote to all poisons. Scent is an aphrodisiac, and a powerful signifier, so it makes sense that a perfume bottle would be decorated with this motif!
