A mid 20th century ring, modeled in 14k yellow gold, whose gem is a large, colorful, boulder opal slab. This opal is figured with intense, swirling, blue/green/violet "starry night" style fire, and scattered patches of dark, ironstone matrix drive home the opal's sky-like quality. The opal is held in a pair of tab-shaped prongs, where it is framed by carved, oak leaf decor. These three-dimensional leaves seem to cradle the opal to the SE and NW, while smaller leaves lay atop the ring's half-round shank, which is textured to resemble a branch. We love the wavy face of the opal, here, its rich colors, and the ring's balanced, naturalistic vibe! Marked 14k for purity.
