1930S 1/2 Carat OEC Diamond Engagement Ring With New Shoots in Platinum
Poor Mouchette
* * SOLD * *

An elegant, 1930s engagement ring, modeled in platinum, whose primary gem is a 1/2 carat old European cut diamond (F/G, VS). This sparkling, hand-cut sweetheart is mounted in a low-profile, four-tab basket setting, whose "picture corner" style tabs are embellished with fine milgrain, and clover-like trios of beads. The ring head rests atop the delicate, shapely face, surrounded by pave-set, single-cut diamonds, and hand-pierced elements (shuttle shapes and bars) that come together in a motif that resembles new shoots. This ring is unique and visually delicate— its very low profile makes it easy-going in wear. Its slender, squarish shank tapers toward the base and is decorated with a hand-engraved wheat motif. Marked 10% Irid Plat, for purity and with a maker's cartouche.
