Art Nouveau Whiteside & Blank Dragon Locket

A wonderful Art Nouveau era locket, modeled in 14k rosy yellow gold, by the well-known jewelers Whiteside & Blank. This locket is decorated with a beautifully-imagined winged dragon, whose body and tail dissolve into a feathery arrangement of curling plumes. Our dragon's face is bearded and cat-like; his mouth is open, and his tongue lols out; his scaled neck is arched and spiny; his outstretched wings are feathered. A bezel-set, old European cut diamond rests amid the plumes of the dragon's tail, and a tiny emerald represents his eye. These figural, Art Nouveau era, repoussé-style lockets are always among our favorite jewels— finding a dragon-themed locket is rare, and this dragon is especially poetic!
This would be a great signature piece, and an inspiring totem. Condition is exceptional. This locket is marked for Whiteside & Blank, and with 14k, for purity.
