A mid-20th-century, modernist ring, modeled in 18k yellow gold for Lapponia, by the beloved Finnish designer Björn Weckström. This dainty bypass ring was made to resemble a comet, or shooting star. The tail of this comet is broader than the head— naturalistic and sculptural, it features organic textures, a high-color matte finish, and craggy, openwork areas. The head of the comet is a small circular form, faced in platinum and engraved with a five-point, diamond-set star. The ring's shank is smooth and polished where it extends from this head— it broadens somewhat, as it tapers to connect with the comet's tail. We love this ring for its thoughtful design, organic texture and striking contrasts! It bears a full series of Finnish hallmarks and dates to the year 1979.
