A really charming Victorian-era ring, modeled in 18k yellow gold, whose navette-shaped face is set with a natural, old-cushion-cut ruby and eight luminous seed pearls! This pinkish-red ruby is mounted in a carved, elongated, star-shaped seat. The pearls that surround it are bead-set, and they rest in the negative space created by the six legs of the star. This ring's navette face is not overly-long, but is beautifully-balanced and slightly curvy! A tiny zig-zag border "outlines" the base of the ring head. The smooth, half-round ring shank is broad at the shoulder and it tapers dramatically toward the base. This old darling is low profile and it has been very well kept! It bears a full series of English hallmarks, including a mark for Birmingham and one for the year 1870.
