Victorian Era Navette Link Natural Nugget & Turquoise Bracelet in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
An antique bracelet, whose navette-shaped, turquoise-set links read like a series of vigilant eyes. Each of these beautiful links is designed with a substantial overlay of natural gold nuggets— the base of each navette is warm 14k yellow gold, as are the hand-fabricated rings that connect the links. The central centerpiece of each link in this bracelet is a brilliant blue turquoise cabochon. These cabs are natural, untreated and highly silicated— they have a lovely, glassy polish. The bracelet closes with a hidden, box-style, tension clasp. It is unusual to find such a large, complex and heavy piece of gold nugget jewelry from this era. It was certainly custom made for someone associated with a gold rush town. It is possible that the turquoise cabs are replacement stones for what may have been a series of horn or mammoth ivory cabochons— this is purely academic, and they are exceptional, in any case.
