Victorian Era Hairwork Handshake Ring in 14k Gold

A sweet, late-19th-century example of hairwork jewelry, intended not for mourning, but for instead to express fondness for a friend. This 14k yellow gold repoussé style plaque is decorated with a beautifully rendered handshake. This little handshake sits atop a plaited band of dark brown hair. This ring is in lovely condition, so it could certainly be worn with a little care. The hands motif makes this an unusual find.
US 7. This ring measures 8 3/4 on the mandrel, but it will best fit a size 6 3/4 - 7 1/4 finger.
Ring face measures approx 10 x 17.5 mm; hair band is approx 3.7 mm wide.
