Victorian 18k Gold Mistletoe Diamond & Pearls Dragon Brooch

A late Victorian brooch in the form of a dragon surrounded by boughs of mistletoe. This brooch is set with four lustrous white pearls that represent the berries of the mistletoe plant. The dragon itself is serpentine, and is intricately carved with chevron details along the length of its body. This is highly dimensional work by a master carver . . . all of the surfaces are meticulously finished. Metal is 18k gold. This brooch is likely French. Closure is a lobe-like c-closure. Condition is immaculate.
Measures approx 31 mm x 23 mm. Diamond measures approx 2.9 mm; pearls measure 3 mm. Weight is 6.4 grams.
