Sokol Burnished Hollowform Barrel Drop Earrings with Lapis in 18k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A soulful pair of hollow form drop earrings, made by the goldsmith Bev Sokol. These meticulously hand-fabricated 18k gold barrels are oriented horizontally, and are each topped with a saucer-shaped, lapis lazuli bead. Their ear wires are elongated and fetchingly squarish. These little barrels have a subtle, Braille-like decor on their ends— one one side these dots are close together, and other the other they are far apart. These earrings are one of a kind, and perfect for daily wear. Hollowform construction is challenging, and these small forms are beautifully executed and finished. The artists signature "B Sokol 18k," is hidden beneath the lapis bead.
We love the way this design reads both as ancient and modernist, and we love the mysterious, symbolic quality the small, raised dots impart.
