Slender Enameled Victorian Fleur de Lis Bangle in 15k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A Victorian-era bangle, modeled in 15k bloomed yellow gold, and featuring a charming beribboned medallion, enameled with a sweet china-blue fleur de lis. This wispy bangle expands to fit over the hand, thanks to the sliding, overlapping construction at the base. Traditionally the three petals of the heraldic fleur de lis can be understood to represent faith, wisdom, and chivalry, and while this beloved iris or “lily among thorns” has a long association with Christian art and iconography, we can also apply this symbol to a more secular vision of purity idealism, and sweetness. This bangle fits a small to average (6 - 6 1/2") woman’s wrist.
Central element measures approx 11.7 x 23.7; fully-round wire measures approx 1.25 mm.
