Periapt Ring in 14k Yellow Gold - Turquoise
* * SOLD * *
A 14k gold ring, made by Poor Mouchette, to serve as a periapt, or lucky charm— a symbolic shield against whatever is encroaching. The highly-detailed band has been carefully moulded and re-cast in the likeness of a Victorian-era ring from my own collection— one shoulder is carved with a small horseshoe and a group of four-leaf clovers, the other is carved with a wishbone and a spattering of forget-me-nots. The very small scale and fine execution of these carvings is wonderful, and unlike anything being produced today. The back of the tapering ring shank is smooth.
At the center of these cheerful, talismanic objects we've set a sky blue, natural-and-untreated turquoise cabochon, whose soft, clear-blue field is quietly interrupted by a hair-fine bolt of black matrix. I see this matrix interjection as a thought in the field of the mind, comforting or disruptive, small but persistent.
This listing is for the periapt ring you see in the first photo; this ring is ready to ship.
If you need a different size (US 4 - 9), please leave a note at checkout. Larger sizes, please inquire, or see our listing for a custom periapt ring.
Bezel measures approx 10 mm x 7.8 mm. Carving extends down each shoulder approx 13.2 mm. Band measures approx 7.5 mm at the shoulder and tapers to approx 2.1 mm at the back. Weight is approx 4.88 grams.
This ring is also available, made to order, in 14k yellow, rose, or white gold. Please allow 3 - 5 weeks for us to complete your jewel. I am happy to customize the center stone to suit your taste or symbolic preferences— lapis, bloodstone, green or blue turquoise, and coral would all be good choices for this design.
Poor Mouchette's original designs are made by human animals in Portland, Oregon. The gemstones are custom cut (locally) to fit the setting. The gold is recycled.
