Painterly Agate Ring with Winged Shoulders
* * SOLD * *
An antique ring, made in 10k rose gold and set with a large, painterly, dendritic agate. This agate is translucent white, with a smear of hill-like, dendritic formations at the base— a tall, vertical body seems to rise up from behind these hills. The stone is cut with a high table and sheer sides, so that it stands up from the low, smooth bezel. The ring's wide shoulders are decorated with a wing motif, and these wings hang inside delineated, pennant-shaped spaces. The ring shank tapers dramatically toward the back. This is an excellent, unusual agate . . . the setting is bold but restrained, and appropriate for both men and women. Marked 10k.

Ring head measures 17.6 mm x 13.2 mm. Rise is approx 5.4 mm. Ring shank measures approx 17.6 mm at the shoulder and tapers to approx 3.25 mm at the back. This ring can be re-sized (please see my FAQs and contact me with custom sizing requests).
Very good. This agate has an internal cleaving line (lefthand side, top corner) that looks like a crack in these photos. This line does reach the surface of the agate, but it is smooth, stable, and seems to be part of the structure of the stone— it is not at all noticeable in wear, but is visible here because of my highly magnified photos and the abundant light behind the stone.
