O Valor Ring in 14k Gold - Custom
* * SOLD * *
A 14k gold ring, made by Poor Mouchette, featuring a pair of stately Iris flowers, that flank a flush, bezel-set gemstone. In the Victorian language of flowers the Iris represents "a message." We owe this coded meaning to the flower's namesake, the Greek messenger goddess Iris, who travels between the heavens and the earth, upon the rainbow, bringing tidings. The Iris flower is also a traditional symbol of valor, and the way these two irises seem to stand guard to either side of their pool-like gem, sweetly reflects that idea. If jewelry can mean, then this little ring means "go forth bravely with your message (of love?) . . ." or something like that!
This ring's highly-detailed shank has been carefully moulded and cast in the likeness of a Victorian-era ring. The very small scale and fine execution of these carvings is wonderful, and unlike anything being produced today. The back of the tapering band is smooth.
