Nesting Birds Victorian Era Drop Earrings in Three Color 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A pair of Victorian-era earrings, each featuring a hand fabricated scene, depicting a songbird and his nest. These earrings are made in three colors of 14k gold, with a bloomed finish that draws pure gold to the surface, giving the central panel a rich, matte color. The metalwork is incredibly detailed, from the texture in the birds' feathers, to the tiny eggs in their nests, to the delicate, piecrust embellishment that separates the nesting scene from the contrasting, high-polish bezel edge. These miniature nature scenes are slightly different upon close inspection, as they are individually composed. Earrings are short drops, with French wires and a catch mechanism.
Circles measure approx 15.6 mm; total drop (including ear-wire) is approx 22.5 mm.
These earrings were originally buttons.
