Modernist Intersection Earrings with Caged Amethyst Spheres in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A very cool pair of mid-twentieth century earrings, made in 14k rose gold, each taking the form of two intersecting panels that come together to form a three-dimensional cage. Betwixt these panels, where the centermost point would be, a small amethyst sphere is suspended. This sphere moves freely within the limited space. Each of these lovely, high-polished cages swings from a short length of rolo chain; the chain is attached to a disc-shaped, handmade stud. The tension backs that secure these earrings against the lobe have three wings and are also handmade. These are European (probably Scandinavian) and are marked 585 for fineness.
Cage element measures approx 12.25 x 9.5 mm; total length is approx 30.5 mm (about 1.25"); sphere measures just over 5 mm.
