Mid Century Turquoise & Pearl Compartmentalized Panel Ring in 18k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A mid-20th-century, Italian cocktail ring, with Victorian tendencies, whose panel-shaped head is set with eight, luminous cultured pearls, and four blue-green turquoise cabochons. These gems are held in tall prongs with balled ends--- a smart and unusual design element, which makes the beautiful orbs appear compartmentalized, and which utilizes the prongs’ balled ends to repeat the orb shape. A hand-pierced eye decoration hovers inside the ring's split shoulders, to either side of the rectangular head. The ring shank tapers toward the base. Marked 18k for purity, and stamped Italy.
Ring face measures approx 15.1 x 11.1 mm; rise is approx 5.1 mm; shank measures approx 8.15 mm at the shoulder and tapers to approx 2.7 mm at the base. Pearls measure approx 3.2 mm; turquoise cabs measure approx 3.8 mm.
