Large Victorian Era Boar's Tusk Brooch in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *

A late Victorian era boar's tusk brooch, whose ends are capped in 14k gold. This tusk is sizable and beautifully curved— the fine polish gives the natural material a smooth, glowing finish. This brooch's capped ends are very well-constructed, and the scalloped design of the point cap is especially pretty. This is likely Scottish. Closure is a locking c-clasp.
As a lifelong vegetarian and someone who feels intensely connected to animals, and to the earth, I see these old trophy pieces as a kind of memento mori, and feel they should be honored and preserved.
