Kalevala Koru Diamond Windows Ring with Smoky Quartz in 14k Gold
$ 595.00
* * SOLD * *

A modernist ring by the Finnish design house Kalevala Koru. This 14k rosy yellow gold ring, made in 1964, is almost dainty, and features two open-form, pinched, diamond shapes that suggest ancient Scandinavian forms found in Finland, Lapland, and elsewhere. These open diamonds flank a pair of bullet-shaped smoky quartz cabochons that float in heavy bezels at the north and south points of the ring face. This is fully hallmarked for Finland and the year 1964. Kalevala Koru is a well-loved house that based their early designs on historic Finnish models, borrowed from the National Museum of Finland. They were founded in 1935, and their founder was a woman writer— Elsa Heporauta (1883-1960).
