Georgian Era Mourning Ring for Rob Todd in 15k Gold
* * SOLD * *
An antique mourning ring, made in 15k rose gold to memorialize Rob Todd. This cigar band style ring has a very-slightly-proud, curved crystal face that is haloed by a carefully-set procession of silver-white seed pearls. A casually-plaited lock of sandy-blond hair is preserved beneath the crystal, along with a fine, gold, hand-pierced, script monogram (RCT). The inscription on the ring's reverse reads: Rob Todd Ob 12th Jan, 1798. There is an additional memorial inscription on the ring's shoulders, that has been worn somewhat smooth over the years— it seems to memorialize a woman (we believe his wife) who died in the previous year (1797). This ring is striking in wear, covering most of the space between the second and third knuckle.
US 6 3/4. This ring can be re-sized. Please contact us to discuss resizing, or visit our services page to add it to your order.
Ring face measures approx 19.1 x 17.2 mm; pearls measure approx 2 mm, each; ring shank measures approx 12.6 mm at the shoulder and tapers to approx 3.2 mm at the base.
With some research you may find a connection between this Rob Todd and the Mary Todd Lincoln ancestral line.
