Edwardian Era Lion Mask Locket in 10k Gold
$ 1,250.00
* * SOLD * *

An Edwardian-era locket, made in yellow gold and featuring an especially handsome lion. This guy has a fierce expression, and like many of the lions of his day he also exhibits a softness around the eyes that complicates his roar with more human emotions. The wrinkles between the eyes, where the lion's nose scrunches, are especially fine and expressive, and his mane, which extends to the edges of the locket face, is an expanse of beautiful, cascading waves. This locket still has it's original photo shield and ring intact. The 10k carat gold is unusually high color, and even the polished reverse reads (visually) like 14. The large bail is 14k gold. This is marked with a 10, and with a triangle that indicates it was imported to the city of Birmingham.
