Dainty Vintage 1940s Penny Whistle Charm in 14k Gold

A dainty, mid 20th century charm, modeled in 14k yellow gold, as functioning, penny-style whistle. This tiny whistle is beautifully and substantially made, in a slender cylindrical form, and it makes a light, high-pitched sound when you blow it. We love the soft, simple lines of this charm, and its lightly-weathered, time-won finish. It makes a gentle visual statement, worn alone on a slender chain; it would also be a fine addition to a thoughtfully-composed collection of charms.

At some point I logged the phrase "whistle louder" in my memory, as something you tell yourself when you're afraid, or alone in the dark. Now this is the connection I make with the idea of a whistle— something small persisting in the darkness. Charms are lovable because of this symbolic potential, and for the meanings we bestow upon them, which are sometimes unexpected, and deeply personal. This whistle is marked 14k for purity. We love these finely-made old charms!
