Notes

Marcel Tolkowsky invented the brilliant cut in 1919. For the first time, his cut used specific proportions and mathematical formulas to bring out a diamond's maximum brilliance and an ideal dispersion of light. Brilliant cut diamonds have the corner on popularity in the contemporary market, and these early modern brilliant cuts are the ancestors of this most popular cut.
