Antique Russian Miniature Egg Pendant - Silver White Guilloche Enamel

A lovely, Imperial Russian miniature egg pendant, made around the turn of the 20th century. This egg-shaped pendant is modeled in 56 zolotnik gold, and is decorated with fine, silver-white guilloche enamel work— the repeating pattern of waves is divided by a band of chevrons. We are confident that this egg belongs to the house of Fabergé, but the original suspension loop has been lost, and with it the definitive marks. The guilloche pattern and the particular alloy of gold point to its origins; our pricing is considerate of the missing marks.

There is a small dark area of enamel loss just below the gold cap.
This little egg was part of a family collection, originating in St. Petersburg, and passed down from a great-grandmother to her female grandchildren. Each of these eggs, which were originally given as gifts during eastertide, was sewn into this woman's garments when her family fled to Finland, to escape the violence of the Russian Revolution.
