Edwardian Diamond & Sea Pearl Toi et Moi Bypass Ring by Fabergé in 14k & Platinum
* * SOLD * *
A quiet, balanced, early 20th century, toi et moi bypass ring, modeled in 14k gold and platinum, whose gems are a sparkling, half-carat, transitional cut diamond and a luminous, button-shaped, natural sea pearl. These two old friends sit, oriented on the diagonal, atop the ring’s curved shank. The diamond (GIA G/VS2) is held in a six-prong platinum mount, whose ruffled base seems to broaden its white face— this platinum mount rests atop a pierced yellow gold basket, whose clean, horizontally-pierced decor looks forward to the Art Deco era. The charming, cup-like basket that holds the button pearl is vertically reeded in a manner that recalls the Victorians. We love the playful contrast of these design elements (one looking ahead, and the other looking back) along with the ring's elegant, understated nature.
This ring is marked for the maker Carl Faberge, and with the number 56 to indicate gold fineness (56 zlotniks = 14k purity). It comes with its original, branded box. This would make a lovely engagement ring!
