Ancient Roman Coin Drop Earrings with Emperor Constantine in 18k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A pair of Israeli earrings, c. 1990, whose smooth, weighty, bezel drops each hold an ancient and well-weathered bronze coin. These coins were minted around 337 - 350 AD; they feature the bust of the Roman emperor Constantine on the front side, and two Roman soldiers on the reverse. These earrings are beautifully made, relatively dainty, and easy to wear. Their minimalist design places focus on the lovely contrasts in texture and color— the smooth, high color of the 18k gold metal shines against the darker, rustic quality of the ancient, excavated coins. Earwires are shepherd's hooks. All elements are hand fabricated.
