$ 2,500.00
* * SOLD * *

A dramatic, large-scale, mid 20th century cocktail ring, modeled in 18k yellow gold and set with a Georgian-era, intaglio-carved, signet seal. The ring’s 24-prong setting is extremely intricate, with a highly-textural combination of cast and fabricated open-work elements that create the impression of a thistle-like flower. Its vibrant carnelian seal features a phoenix, crying out with spread wings, intricately hard carved and positioned in a round, recessed field. The phoenix is a fiery, bird-like creature from Greek mythology. A mythical beast that lives and dies and is born again from its own ashes, it is strongly associated with the sun, and is an important symbol of rebirth, renewal, and an indomitable nature. The initials HW are carved in a second, smooth, recessed field, below this phoenix— maybe those letters are your initials, or maybe they are the initials of your super secret alias? This ring is fierce and glamorous and very unusual.
