18k Victorian Ruby & Diamond Oval Cluster Ring with Faux Bois Epaulets
* * SOLD * *
A Victorian-era, oval panel ring, set with a bevy of clustered, old-cut diamonds, and two vibrant, natural (no heat) rubies. The gemstones are set close together on the compact head, with a combination of bead and prong setting techniques. This ring has a precise openwork gallery, and is further embellished with carved, faux-bois epaulets, at the shoulders. These old rubies have wonderful color; the diamonds are white and lively. The half-round shank tapers from the shoulder. This is fully hallmarked for 18k gold, Birmingham, and the year 1889. Great balance and fine details in this unique design— it would make a lovely and easy-to-wear engagement ring.
