Victorian Snakes & Blossoms Eternity Knot Ring in 10k Gold

An unusual, Victorian-era, two-tone ring, modeled in 10k gold as a love knot whose ties are the gracefully entwined bodies of a pair of snakes. One sinuous creature is yellow gold with textured scales, the other is rose gold and perfectly smooth. There are two small, three-dimensional, pearl-set flowers adorning the ring face, laid to either side of the knot's open center. This ring is hollow-form, which makes it lightweight.

Snakes were a popular motif in Victorian jewelry, symbolizing wisdom and eternity, and for Queen Victoria (who wore a snake-form engagement ring) the snake was a symbol of eternal love. It's the dualism of the snake that I find fascinating, and that dualism is highlighted in the design of this ring— two snakes, two textures, two flowers. This ring speaks also about the concept of union, about blossoming and renewal, and about letting go of one's purely individual identity to become part of something new and fruitful.
