Victorian Rust Plume Agate Ring in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A Victorian-era ring, set with an exceptional, rust-colored plume agate. The rosy, yellow gold setting has a triple split shank and a beautifully fabricated, tapering bezel. The agate gem has fine depth and plume definition— the densely-figured, red-brown plumes float at different depths in the chalcedony body, creating the illusion that the face of the stone is crisply in focus, while the lower plumes pull gradually out of focus behind it. There is a small, white, druzy pocket, at the stone's center. Highly-figured plume material is not commonly found in period jewelry, and this agate's warm-neutral palate makes it especially winning.
Excellent. This agate has been carefully re-polished (in-setting) to restore its finish, for its next 120 years of service.
