An Art Deco solitaire engagement ring, made in 18k white gold by the well-known American company Belais. The low-profile setting features intricately carved shoulders and a cutwork gallery whose central motif brings to mind a lotus flower. The .45 carat old European cut diamond (G/H, SI) sits well and safely below the prong tips, giving this classic style the added appeal of a low-profile.

The Belais Brothers were among the first American jewelers to use white gold, and they are widely considered the first company to produce a really successful alloy, one they patented between 1918-1920. Belais jewelry is very collectable for this reason, and was incredibly popular in the 1920s.
