Taxco Sterling & Tiger's Eye Hinged Pennant Collar
* * SOLD * *
A one-of-a-kind, vintage, collar-style necklace, made in Taxco, Mexico. This sterling necklace is composed of eight, long, hand-fabricated, triangular pieces that are hinged together with small rivets. This arrangement of silver pennants connects to a chevron-shaped centerpiece, atop which a prominent, claw-set, polished chunk of tiger's eye has been placed. These pennants are overlay work— their borders are matte bright silver, and their recessed centers are blacked. The black patination has naturally worn here and there, over time. This is a fierce design; it brings to mind those narratives of the early mid-century that imagined a future in space, or a return to the tribal past. Wonderful weight and movement. Handmade tension box clasp. Marked Sterling, Taxco.
