Source of Light Victorian Portrait Necklace in 15k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A Victorian era necklace, whose centerpiece is a lady's portrait, painted in enamel, on a porcelain disc— the subject sits in a shadowy field, interrupted by a vibrant yellow-green light, whose source originates over her right shoulder. She holds a small bouquet. The contrast of muted and saturated colors make this little painting quite moving. The portrait is held in a smooth bezel, which hangs from a hand-fabricated, two-strand cable chain. Metal is 15k yellow gold. Barrel clasp is marked 15ct. Condition is excellent with age-appropriate discoloration of the unglazed, porcelain reverse of the pendant.
Pendant measures approx 35.5 mm (1.4 inches). Chain length is approx 17 inches.
