Mid Century Malachite & Pearl Halo Cocktail Ring in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A mid-twentieth-century cocktail ring, made in 14k yellow gold and set with a large, striking, malachite cabochon. This beautifully striated stone has a high, glassy polish— it sits inside an ornately-scalloped bezel, surround by a halo of iridescent white pearls. This gem exhibits a chatoyant "cat's eye" effect, which is uncommon in malachite. The ring's under-gallery is smooth and slightly bulbous; its shoulders are decorated with a subtle crosshatched texture. The ring's weighty, flat-wire shank is decoratively split at the shoulder. An exceptionally beautiful mid-century ring that recalls the Victorian aesthetic. This is marked with the Dutch 14k gold purity standard (an oak leaf and the number 585), and with the maker's cartouche.
