Etruscan Revival Acorn Drop Earrings in 14k Gold
* * SOLD * *
A pair of antique, Victorian-era earrings, each modeled in the form of an acorn, in 14k yellow gold. These dangling acorns are decorated with Etruscan embellishments. The tapering bottoms of the acorns are smooth, rosy, and burnished, while the caps are scalloped, high-color and ornately embellished with very fine, precise, twisted wirework and granulation. The flat beads that decorate the topsides of the fire-gilded caps are especially charming. These little acorns swing from a short length of chain that is original to the earrings. 14k Leaver-back ear-wires are new. The acorn is a traditional lucky charm and, for the Celts, it was a symbol of immortality.
Excellent, w/new leaver-back ear-wires.
Acorns measure approx 16.4 mm x 10.2 mm. Earrings measure approx 42 mm, total length.
