Vintage Daniel Benally Turquoise & Talon Cuff Bracelet
* * SOLD * *
A vintage cuff bracelet made by the Navajo silversmith Daniel Benally, and dated for August, 2nd, 1972. This bracelet is set with a an outstanding spiderweb turquoise cabochon, whose colors range from light to dark green, with both yellow and blue overtones. Because of the tightness of the dark web matrix, the stone gives the impression of small chambers filled with a spectrum of close greens. The bezel that holds the gem is surrounded by tiered embellishments: twisted and smooth wire, clusters of raindrops and arching leaves. On one side the silversmith has set a real owl's talon in a silver sheath; on the other side he's placed a long leaf in this space, to balance the asymmetrical design. This is a heavy, older cuff, and all of the file-work, fabrication and stamping were done by hand. This design is unique and probably one of a kind.
Inside measures approx 5 3/4" end-to-end. Gap is 1 1/4". Measurement taken with a soft tape. Cuff is heavy and rigid. Wrist size corresponds roughly with height— this bracelet will be a good fit for a 5' - 5'3 woman with a medium build.
