Navajo Tufa Cast Coin Silver & Turquoise Cuff Bracelet
* * SOLD * *
An older, Navajo-made, tufa-cast cuff bracelet, set with three natural turquoise cabochons. This is a heavy cast with wonderful, rugged texture in the recessed areas of the bracelet face. Bezels have hand-cut, sawtooth edges that are endearingly irregular. The center bezel is surrounded by a twisted wire rope, and flanked by bars and raindrops, arranged as barbells. The large raindrops have slightly cratered surfaces. The untreated turquoise gems are quite hard, with prominent patches of fawn matrix and little pits here and there. Two of the gems are blue-green; the other leans toward robin's egg blue. There is a code very lightly scratched into the backside of the cuff— C7Ø7. With a loupe you can also see some old ciphers that may be letters. Otherwise unmarked. This is coin silver (90%) or better. Patina is original and quite black.
Excellent. Natural patina.
Inside measures approx 6.25", tip to tip (measure taken with a soft measuring tape). Opening (gap) is 1.3". Face height is approx 1.4". Weight is substantial at 93.4 grams. Fits a 6 1/2 - 6 3/4 inch wrist, well.
